Known to many of his patients as simply “Dr. K,” Brett Kockentiet is a Board Certified Dermatologist, a fellow of the American Acadamy of Dermatology and a Micrographic Dermatologic Surgeon. After graduating from BGSU in Northeast Ohio he moved to Dayton where he completed a Masters degree and Masters thesis emphasizing both Anatomy and Pharmacology. In addition to doing laboratory research in Alzheimer’s disease, he also had the opportunity to teach Anatomy for two years at Wright State University which helped to help cover the cost of his education.
Continuing on this path, he applied and was accepted to Wright State University School of Medicine where he obtained his Medical Doctorate degree. During this 4 year period he found his love for skin and chose the wonderful and challenging field of Dermatology. He completed a short year of Internal Medicine at Kettering Hospital and then moved his family to the beautiful city of Richmond Virginia where they spent the next three years during his Dermatology Residency. Like most midwesterners though, he found the pull back to this area and family too great to resist and moved back to Dublin Ohio in 2009. |
On returning to Ohio, he completed a one year fellowship in Dermatologic surgery under Dr. Dwight Scarborough, a life-long mentor and Godfather to Dr. K. He stayed on to join Dr. Scarborough as a partner at Affiliated Dermatology where he has practiced for the last 12 years.
Dr. Kockentiet’s main interests in the field of Dermatology lie in the surgical treatment of skin cancer, the evaluation and management of challenging inflammatory diseases of the skin, and the restoration of youthful skin through light cosmetic procedures. “To tell the truth I love all aspects of Dermatology but what I love most is the great connection I have made with so many wonderful people under my care”, BK.
Dr. Kockentiet lives right here in Dublin, Ohio where he practices most days, but has a small satellite practice in Bellefontaine, Ohio as well. He enjoys the benefits of being part of a strong, private practice with a long history in both these communities and a “family feel”. He has a wife and two teenage boys whose schedules keep him very busy in his downtime. He’s a gardener, a snowboarder, a woodworker, a workout fanatic, a part time chauffeur, a loving husband and an extremely proud father.
