Dr. Scarborough grew up in southern Michigan, attended Michigan State University and Andrews university completing a B.S. degree in biology with a chemistry minor, and married his high school sweetheart. He completed medical school and an internal medicine internship at Loma Linda University in southern California, and returned to the midwest for Dermatology Residency at Ohio State University. Then came a Dermatology Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, investigating the clinical use of retinoids in skin disease and their effect on cell culture using a mouse melanoma model.
Soon after heading back to Ohio, Dr. S started Affiliated Dermatology. As an assistant professor at Ohio State University and an adjunct assistant professor at Columbia University, he mentored medical students and residents on clinical rotations for over 20 years, striving to model “patients come first” as the standard of care. Dr. S started a cosmetic surgical fellowship program and was medical director for 14 years along with Dr. Emil Bisaccia under the auspices of The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. |
For many decades Dr. S volunteered at the Columbus Free Clinic, also serving on its board and as president. Dr. S is a past president of The Columbus Medical Association, and a past president of The Columbus Medical Association Foundation. Dr. S’s vocations have included private pilot since 1982, paragliding, snowboarding, golf, wine collecting and of late, watercolor cards and grandkids.
