Affiliated Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery, Inc. began as a 660sq.ft. solo practice on the upper floor of the historic Old Firehouse Building on April 16, 1984, when the Dublin Village population was about 5,800. The philosophy of “practice quality medicine and treat people well” quickly drove practice growth, requiring a move to the current location in November 1987. During that period, in partnership with Emil Bisaccia MD (who co-trained with Dr. S at OSU then did an immunology fellowship at Yale), Dr. S. completed another fellowship sponsored by The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr S also underwent Mohs surgical training and opened a CLIA-certified Mohs lab in 1998. The following year Dr. S founded Affiliated Ambulatory Surgery Center, Inc., an outpatient surgery center accredited by the Joint Commission in 1999.

Numerous cutting edge cosmetic surgical techniques and laser-assisted procedures were performed and advanced through the years By Drs Scarborough and Bisaccia, who along the way trained over 30 board-certified dermatologists in their Morristown, N.J. and Dublin, Ohio based fellowship program under the auspices of The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. In 2009, Dr. Brett Kockentiet, who also brought expertise in the use of biologic therapies in the treatment of difficult cutaneous diseases, was among our best fellows and was asked to join our practice.

To improve tissue specimen turn-around times and eliminate potential loss in transport, an in-house dermatopathology lab was begun and certified by CLIA in 2008. Dr. Richard Scarborough, a Cleveland Clinic trained dermatopathologist, took over as lab director in 2018 to provide expert pathology reads with close clinical correlation, bringing optimal treatment guidance.
Showing care in what we do and taking pride in the quality of service we offer is the reason many of our staff have been part of the AD team for over 20 years. The best medical outcomes occur when mutual trust is established between care-giver and patient, and that is our goal for you. |
